performance module at the Fundació Brossa, Barcelona (Catalonia) | the poetics of the object in performance art
This performance art course begins by examining and understanding the object as an entity with essence, agency, and poetic value. We will explore how objects transform, speak, and live within the artwork and the correlation they establish with human bodies.
the poetics of the object in performance art
This course is based on proposals for radical listening and radical analogy with objects, identifying and reconstructing the memory of our bodies as political-affective geographies. It explores how the agency of the object is transformed into living poetry. The relationship with the “object” is understood as another matter that encounters the human “self” in a corporeal dialogue where, from this encounter, layers of affect and effect, recognitions, functionalities, associations, and exchanges are produced between the absence/presence of materiality in relation to the presence/absence of the self. The aim is to sharpen hypersensitivity, activate intuition, and accompany the alchemical processes of constant change through the object as a living and poetic dimension.
The co-creation of interventions will emerge from the exploration of our bodies, energies, and imaginaries, and their relationship with objects within performance art. We will work on the aesthetics, composition, concept, motivation, and creation of individual and collective performance actions based on the relationship we establish with objects as symbolic and conceptual catalysts.
